It all started with Mr Basílio Alves

Established since the early 60’s, the Balflex^® is an international group of companies dedicated to the design, production, and distribution of all types of flexible hoses, fittings, connectors, adapters, quick couplings, and v-belts with very high-quality standard.

Almost 60 years of know-how and expertise in this field makes Balflex® the first choice for the industry, oil & gas, mining and agriculture.

Today the Balflex® Group covers worldwide users, through our own companies, production facilities and a network of distributors.

1963

The Beginning

Incorporation of Basílio Alves, Unipessoal by Basílio Alves, the founder. He has made a journey to Germany in his own Fiat 500, trading the cost of the boat trip for himself and his car with his labor on the boat’s engines during the trip.

1975-1986

First Changes

First certification as a qualified supplier L’Air Liquide Portugal for assembling high pressure hoses for medical oxygen. First certification as qualified supplier for the automotive industry by Toyota and Peugeot PSA.

1987-1988

The Factory grows

Installation of the product testing laboratory, with hydrostatic pressure test and impulse and burst test bench up to 1800 bar, with high temperature and first pressure test up to 5000 bar, tightening torque measuring test machine, salt spray test machine and zinc plating layer measuring equipment.

1999-2010

Going International

Incorporation of Balflex Brasil Ltda. Incorporation of Balflex Peru SAC and beginning of production and marketing of hydraulic hoses at Balflex Chile Ltda. USMSHA certification. Quality management system certification according to ISO 9001:1994 at Balflex Portugal SA and at Balflex Brasil Ltda. GOST certification.

2011-2021

Opening of Vmflex Lda. Incorporation of Balflex USA LLC. Certifications: FRAS, RINA, US DOT, Type Approval by Bureau Veritas, BV Mode II – Marine Division and US FDA. Incorporation of 2B Hydraulik GmbH. Beginning of the construction of the new “Basílio Alves” hose plant in Portugal.

2022

Opening of the new hose plant in Pindelo dos Milagres, S.P. do Sul, Portugal.
